2025 Nanka Labor Day Camp
Nanka Judo’s yearly Labor Day Weekend Training Camp took place this last week in Santa Monica, CA. Apart from SJSU Judo’s coach, Kosuke Tanaka, this year’s camp featured three additional world renowned clinicians: Natsumi Tsunoda, Megumi Horikawa, and Christa Deguchi.
(Left) Megumi Horikawa: 2x World Champion, 4x IJF World Tour Gold Medalist
(Middle) Christa Deguchi: 2024 Olympic Champion, 2x World Champion, 17x IJF World Tour Gold Medalist
(Right) Natsumi Tsunoda: 2024 Olympic Champion, 3x World Champion, 10x IJF World Tour Gold Medalist
The camp spanned over three days with three sessions per day—a total of nine sessions. The techniques taught by the clinicians, who brought extensive expertise and experience, will significantly enrich the skills of the next generation of Judokas. Participants in the camp engaged in technical training and live situational sparring. The high-quality instruction underline Nanka Judo’s commitment to advancing the sport and preparing young athletes for the LA 2028 Olympics.
